Senate on any matter of concern that is not stated on the agenda. A time limit of two (2) minutes per speaker and five (5) minutes per topic shall be observed. The law does not permit any action to be taken, nor extended discussion of any items not on the agenda. The DASG Senate may
briefly respond to statements made or questions posed. (California Government Code §54954.3).

Maritza: Bienvineda today in Conference Room A+B today, definitely want Latinx students join

Christopher: Meet you student leaders even today in DASG lounge from 2-4, lost of snacks and games.

    Advisor Announcements

Please note: Advisor is limited to two minutes. The Senate cannot take action or respond to items during Advisor Announcements.

Martiza: Happy Week two meetings, excited to be an advisor for both programs and marketing. Advisors are here to support and will be multitasking but will try to focus on attending the marketing meetings.

Dayna: Looking forward to working with the marketing committee! Calendar invites should be sent through the FHDA outlook.

    Shared Governance Reports

Chris: Guided pathways met on Tuesday, 3 new guided pathways members. There will be a partner in learning institute to help with marginalized student populations. New whiteboards, bulletin boards, and student computer (limited to 1, but hopefully will increase). Lot of events planned across campus such as movies and De-Stress.

    Business Items

    Check-ins
    1. INFORMATION/DISCUSSION

This item is to check in on how everyone is doing. Check-ins for the week: How are you feeling about the first week of school?

    • Presenter: All
    • Time: 20 Minutes

Thomas: Majoring in CS, interested in the marketing committee due to interest in Instagram flyers and desig.

Joseph: Looking forward to joining marketing, doesn’t have marketing skills, but wants to learn more

William: CS major, wants to join marketing committee to get more involved with school. Victor: Kinesiology major, first week is pretty good, everyone is nice. Wants to join DASG because he has experience with media.

Hannah: Math major, first week has been okay not too bad so far. Wants to join DASG because they never had any student government experience.

Chris: PR officer for Marketing, first week was pretty good, just trying to get back into it. Very excited for DASG this year due to the events.

Kammy: Social media officer, first week of school has been awful. 5 classes in total, applying for an internship.

Katelyn: Chair of Marketing, first week has been very busy just getting the routine in classes.

    Intern On Boarding
    1. INFORMATION/DISCUSSION

This item is to inform prospective interns on what skills to know, how to join the canvas shell, how to become an intern in marketing, and possible responsibilities.

    • Presenter: Katelyn and Virinchi
    • Time: 15 minutes

Katelyn: Canva and Capcut are our editing tools used for our social media. We use Instagram and reels to promote events and information across campus. Flea Market has their own social media network, so we can help them.

Chris: Marketing is a very diverse committee with a lot of different tasks, so reach out to internal officers if you have any questions.

    Tik-Tok and Reels
    1. INFORMATION/DISCUSSION

This item is to brainstorm ideas to upload video content on Tik-Tok and Instagram Reel. Discuss and brainstorm ideas how to reach out to campus clubs & programs to collaborate with DASG on reel content. Assign work and make sure to set deadline for each action.

    • Presenter: All
    • Time: 15 minutes

Katelyn: Spotlight certain groups across the campus. Maybe Clubs?

Chris: Couple of examples such as the Pride Center, Food pantry, HEFAS, MPS. A lot of student organizations are looking to work with DASG to promote their organization. Marketing is trying to prioritize accessibility, students may not be able to see text on infographics and understand reels due to a language barrier. Marketing will be communicating with Listening and speaking center to make Marketing more accessible to students. Will also be communicating with the SRE committee.

Maritza: emphasis on what Marketing is specifically focusing on as a whole, programs and ICC might overlap with certain things we want to work with. Possible collaboration with other committees/ICC. Other groups have their own social media, so don’t put too much workload in the marketing committees. If there are any tools that may make posts more effective and accessible, marketing can use the budget to acquire it.

Victor: Captions can be used in videos, for people who may not understand or hear the video.

Thomas: Could possibly promote the Instagram/Social media by giving free food or treats?

    Social Media Content Calendar Update
    1. INFORMATION/DISCUSSION

This item is to monitor update and oversee the progress of Social Media material and work distribution.

    • Programs 2 events

Chris: Marketing request channel as well, PR and Social Media dictate where we have to post it. Important as an intern to be familiar with the format. Weeks of Welcome has been submitted to OCL, La voz will be promoting it on their social media. Flyers have been hung up across campus. Pride Center may be contacted. Office of outreach has also been contacted.  Stick around to help post stuff across campus

Kammy: Content calendar has details on each Instagram posts. Kammy will DM all the post information to the intern working on a post. For every intern making a post on Canva, try to make it so everyone can view Canva posts.
