About Me

Hi! I am a full-time instructor in the Environmental Science Department at De Anza College. My background includes work on invasive species, benthic-pelagic coupling, water quality, plankton population dynamics, bioaccumulation and magnification studies, and how carbon moves through ecosystems. My research was the first to focus on the feeding ecology of an invasive bivalve on a specific size class of plankton in the San Francisco Estuary. You can read about it here.

In my work as an educator, I strive to present a different idea of what a scientist looks like. I love science and I love to learn from my students. In my spare time, I am a passionate Oakland A's fan and a trapeze artist.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL classes that I teach have a LOW-COST or ZERO-COST textbook designation. This is designed to help all students manage the cost of higher education.
