We host hundreds of field trips every year from schools all over the Bay Area and beyond. Each program includes a featured fulldome show, plus a live tour of the night sky and space, conducted by our trained presenters. Audience questions are always welcome during these presentations.
Field trip shows run approximately 70 minutes (shorter for younger audiences) and are available for booking Monday–Friday. Visit the Field Trips webpage for more details.
Astronomy shows are offered to the public on most Saturdays from October through May. Each presentation includes a featured fulldome show, plus a live tour of the night sky and space, conducted by our trained presenters. Audience questions are always welcome during these presentations.
Our rotating schedule features different shows each week—and you can learn about a different set of constellations during each season of the year. Check our calendar for show titles and admission prices.
The De Anza College Planetarium will present “Explore Live!”—a live astronomy series on March 30 and April 6, 13 and 27—featuring presentations by our professional planetarium staff.
“Explore Live!” is a new series that will cover topics ideally suited to planetarium viewing, including
- “Discover the Beautiful Night Sky”
- “Dark Skies Worldwide”
- “Secrets of the Digital Sky”
- “Constellations and Culture”
- “Flight to the Edge of the Universe”
Program presenters will include Planetarium Director Toshi Komatsu, Planetarium Specialist Mike Askins and Planetarium Specialist Mariah Panley. The series begins March 30 at 5 p.m. with “Discover the Beautiful Night Sky,” presented by Toshi Komatsu. Audience members are encouraged to bring binoculars for this event. Tickets are $9 and can be purchased online.
Immerse yourself in vibrant images and music! Our cutting-edge Laser Fantasy system uses sophisticated software and multiple projectors to create dazzling aerial beams and captivating, colorful laser graphics on the interior of our 50-foot dome.
Each show is built around the music of a favorite artist or genre—from Pink Floyd to Michael Jackson, EDM and more! Laser shows are live events, conducted by our professional laser operators, which means each night’s performance is unique.
The Planetarium is located on the De Anza College campus, behind the Science Center building near parking Lot E.
Parking is $3 every day, including weekends. You can purchase a parking permit at the yellow machines located in each parking lot or garage.
We recommend parking in Lot E for weekend shows. Please allow time to park and purchase a parking permit before the show begins.
