    Review/Approve notes from March 14, 2022 meeting

    The group reviewed the notes, and they were approved.


    Fireside Room Update

    Lockwood thanked the students for polling the options reviewed at the March 14, 2022, meeting. The DASG and ICC representatives reviewed options, polled, and collected feedback from the DASG membership and reported back the responses. The purchase requisitions have been submitted for the Zoom pods, the new furniture, and the power bars. The hope is to have the new furniture and equipment arrive and installed over the summer to be ready for use in the Fall.

    A picture was shared of the lettering on the doors of the Fireside Room, and this is now completed. The items in process are the acoustic panels and the film installation on the door leading in and out of the staff/faculty dining area.


    Health Services Update

    A new entry door has been ordered. All the old furniture has been removed and new furniture has been installed. New film has been installed one of the doors. New De Anza logos for the windows of health services were presented and shared with the group.


    Lower-Level Campus Center Painting

    The lower level of the Campus Center needs new paint in a lighter color and to a more current color scheme. The need for the painting is being presented to this group as a discussion item for feedback. College Life representatives indicated that the area needs an update.

    Previously, the space was a salmon/peach color and prior to that was cream. The color scheme will be up for discussion and a decision will be made later. The target for this is next academic year after input is solicited from the next student group. In the interim, pricing for the project can be gathered for a possible 2022/2023 Winter or Spring break timeline. DASG and ICC is normally consulted regarding the funding for this. A student representative on the committee recommended providing a photograph of the space to the DASG for reference. Lockwood will take photos of the space so the DASG can present to the members.


    Campus Center Window Cleaning

    The Campus Center needs window and high traffic exterior cleaning. This is an annual need for the building and the windows will be washed and the exterior areas power washed. The work is currently being coordinated by the college operations manager with the intent of completion before the end of year events, celebrations, and graduations.


    Replacement of the Solarium (curved) window system in the main dining room.

    The curved solarium window system replacement in the main dining room will be a capital project. The window system has been identified as a high-level need during the Facilities Condition Assessment. The project needs an architect and will be submitted to the Division of the State Architect’s office. (DSA) The budget is very early in the development. The hope is to have preliminary budget numbers and design ideas in the Fall.

    The campus center director shared the solarium has roof leaks and generates excess heat for comfortable dining during warm days.


    Dining Services Update

    The campus center director shared dining services is open and is offering a Korean rice bar which has been very popular. The concept offers a healthy, colorful dining option and is desirable to different palates, including vegetarian.  It was shared that dining service patron numbers are up compared to last quarter. Winter Quarter numbers were between 83 and 123 per day and Spring quarter numbers are approximately 240 per day. Before the pandemic, dining services was serving 1500 people per day.   


    Information Sharing/Quick News

    The student activities coordinator shared club day this coming spring will be a hybrid model with an online option and in person. Thursday, from 11am to 1pm, the office of college life will host the first in-person club day at the main fountain. There has been a lot of interest and there will be a good number of clubs represented.
